Sabuesos Guerreras A.C. is a non-profit organization dedicated to searching for missing persons in Mexico. Composed of family members and committed volunteers, our mission is to comb through mountains, hills, valleys, rivers, and landfills in search of clandestine graves, hoping to find our loved ones and bring solace to affected families.
From the moment a loved one disappears, we begin living a nightmare at home. Every day, we pray to God that our missing family member is still alive. For us, the families of the disappeared, even if we are given just a single bone, it would ease the unbearable suffering of not knowing their fate.
The technology we use is very simple: picks, shovels, machetes, sticks, sturdy shoes for long walks, sharp eyes to spot any remains, and a big heart strong enough to endure so much pain. The Mexican government shows little interest in the issue of missing persons; they claim this doesn’t happen in Mexico, that all the disappeared were bad people and that is why they are found in clandestine graves.
In Mexico, justice is missing. Families are missing. Human rights are missing. But what has not disappeared is the hope and faith that one day, we will find them. Photographs can reveal the harsh reality families of the disappeared face: we find clavicles, ribs, vertebrae, pelvis bones. This is horrific—to live every day with the uncertainty of what happened to your loved one and the unanswered question: Why us?
We invite the community to join our cause, either by volunteering in searches or supporting us with donations of essential equipment such as leather gloves, plastic goggles, waist support belts, picks, shovels, radios, rappelling equipment, field shoes, and machetes.
Additionally, we encourage families of missing persons to undergo DNA testing so that if their loved one is ever found in a clandestine grave, they can be identified. To those still missing, the moment of reunion will come; we know you cannot return on your own. We just want you to know that there is not and will never be a moment when we do not think of you. We continue searching tirelessly, without pause, with this great family—Sabuesos Guerreras A.C.—and with international experts who are also fighting alongside us. Hold on and do not give up.
